Roleplaying Format On The Way...
Soooo...Just like on the last site, I'll probably be spearheading the RPG element of the site (among other things). This isn't official yet, but as soon as Yuii bumps my ass up to Admin I can basically enforce my will upon you pathetic meat-sacks however I see fit.

With that said, I'll be posting up a thread explaining the wherefore's and the whyhow's soon. In the meantime, feel free to post some RPG ideas in this, here, B-E-A-U-Tiful thread and we can discuss shit and be all pally and stuff.

Guten Tag!

RE: Roleplaying Format On The Way...
Well I for one am terribly excited about this recent development and would love to be at the vanguard of the RPG thread alongside you Kalas. (;

An idea I've been toying with, which I demand everyone must agree is fantastic or face the penalty of death by jelly beans, is essentially a steampunk based world inspired by my love of world building and many many hours of Dishonored.

Here are some of the details.

-Not too long ago there was horrible horrible plague caused by the Gods(or so it is rumored) that killed many many people. Like Black Plague if it had taken plague steroids. Not going to get into the details of said plague because it'd make you cry and never touch anything ever again.
-In response to this, the King decided that he didn't want the plague and ordered his royal builders to construct a massive tower to escape the plague, no one is really sure of the exact height because the architect mysteriously disappeared. But it's massive and has six levels, the bottom 2 are for the lower class(workers, people no one cares about) and is the most lawless. The middle two are for middle class(merchants, families that have done well for themselves) The 5th is for the most wealthy and 5 original families that helped fund the tower. And of course the 6th is where the King resides and where all the best parties are had. It took many years naturally.
-There are several ways to travel from level to level, such as stairs, regular elevators, secret elevators, express elevators, cages(not very fun), all kinds of ways to get to and fro. Many have tolls.
-There are several factions, The King obviously has control of the Tower Guard(think your police). Then there is the King's Justice(think secret police but they are almost as scary as the plague. They are led by the King's Specter, who is the most feared man in the tower and answers only to the King.) Next we the the Twisted Sisters(your guild full of witches who have a monopoly on magic. They are recognized by their tattoo under their left ear.) Of course the Royal 5 Families each have their own private army. When there is law, there is chaos and this chaos is represented by the hundreds of street gangs that terrorize the Tower.

My basic idea for a plot consists of everyone is just trying to survive, all the while some mysterious entity that the King has apparently pissed off royally is trying to destroy the Tower and its occupants in any way possible. Some of these ways include: assassinations, fires, merchants being robbed, etc. However the most heinous(tehe) is that the entity whomever they may be is smuggling in the plague(which as you can imagine is terrifying and a no no.)

That is about it, I'd love to hear what anyone has to say, whether it's for/against, what's good/bad about it, and of course if anyone would be interested in RPing in this setting.

We are everywhere and everyone. We are nowhere and nobody. Underneath the mask is nothing and everything.

I like the idea. Just wondering on how much of the player roles is thought out or if it's like completely up to the players with events (that you control) happening over time where the players can interact with.

Mind all of you that I will be implementing a wiki mod/plugin for the website where you can maybe store your stuff. Makes it a lot easier to look stuff up later.

I should have supplied more, but alas I was at school. However I've had some time so let me expand. Also I love the sound of that wiki plug in <3

Essentially yes, each player would pick a faction, or even just be a freelancer if they so desire and we go from there. Depending on which faction you decide upon will help shape your path. For example, The King's Justice will heavily be investigating the mysterious entity, the guard will deal with the rabble of street gangs and common thieves. The Twisted Sisters are a guild and as such are basically mercenaries(pretty hefty bill they charge daily, usually only the King, Royal 5 and very wealthy merchants can afford a Sister. Sometimes a gang can save up and get one as well. Also it should be said that if the Specter asks for a Sister, they're answer is how many and how long. Regular Justices will deal with some griping but generally get a discount least the Specter becomes involved.)

Of course these are only examples and like you said(I'm dubbing myself god of this RP) I would supply events that happen and help give the players options. And not to make it sound like I'm just telling people what to do, I would frequently PM players privately and give them some clues and more options depending their character choice ex. Twisted Sisters have magic so they would easily be more aware than others. A large part of this RP would deal with the plague appearing in the Tower and trying to stop the entity(really got to get a name) or handling the chaos that would ensue.

With this all being said there are already some characters I have in mind already, such as The King, The Specter, The leader of the Twisted Sisters, maybe a gang or two, the head of the Royal 5 Families(which still allows for players to be a son, daughter, niece, cousin etc.) and would love to have the help of my fellows to help shape the world.

As for magic, it works in two ways.

The first is how the Twisted Sisters operate. They will speak the commands for magic and/or make the symbols using their hands, drawing, etc. This can range from controlling a person's actions/thoughts, making someone see something that isn't there, or not seeing something that is there. It can be used to bind animals to your will, move objects and cause pain. More powerful witches can create objects from nothing, throws ball of fire or arcs of lightning. They can freeze the blood inside a man or boil his blood. Some have been known to make men implode into large squishy balls of blood and bone. Now the stronger the magic the more it drains a person, and no not like mana or something. Essentially when using magic you are using an essence of yourself and if you over extend that essence you can pass out, became weak, throw up, and in the case you attempt a spell you are not capable of, you could drive yourself insane, becoming a mumbling and psychotic Essence Husk(will explain this in a sec.) or even kill yourself.

An Essence Husk is a witch or warlock(to be a warlock, which is a male spell caster, in the Tower is punishable by death by the Twisted Sisters. If you decide to play a warlock make sure that no one knows or tells the Sisters because then you're in trouble.) that has over extended themselves and as a result their essence overcomes their mind. They are unable to control themselves and behave wildly, often destructively as once becoming an Essence Husk it gives you far more power because the limits that your body and mind normally have are gone. Essence Husks are very rare and when one does pop up it is immediately hunted and slaughtered.

Now, the second type of magic is called God Touched. It's called this because there is no explanation of what the magic is or how it works. This magic is both extremely powerful and extremely rare(players cannot access this, at least not at the start hehe). Because of the extreme power it is difficult to control and more so difficult to master. There are no limits to what being God Touched could mean. An example of being God Touched is the King's Specter, leader of the King's Justice.

The Specter appears as a man in his late 30s or early 40s, yet he is as spry as a child. He appears as an average man, not too ugly, not handsome, tall, well built with dark hair fringed with gray. He is plainly adorned, yet has all his clothes custom made to have the left sleeve of his shirts and jackets removed. This is because of the power of being God Touched. His left arm, almost to the shoulder is covered in a strange red flesh like substance. The flesh appears sinew and with strange runes. Where he has nails, there are claws and it is said no mortal weapon can harm the flesh. When touched by this hand and the Specter wills it, he takes complete control of that person. Their mind and body become his and they obey his every command. Even more frightening is that they cannot be stopped unless the head is removed. Once he takes control of a person, their every thought they've ever had becomes burned in the Specter's mind.

He earned the name Specter from two occasions. The first is from when he began to establish order among the street gangs of the first two levels. He simply strode into a tavern, declared who he was and that all who resisted would be arrested or killed. Naturally the gang laughed and took hold of him. They decided it would be fun to string him up and hang him from the rafters. So they did, but when he didn't die they became worried. When a man strode to stab the Specter in the heart, he simply grabbed the man. The man turned and began slaughtering his own comrades. The Specter merely watched as the gang was slaughtered by the man despite stabbing and cutting him.

The second came from another gang who tried to defy the Specter. The same situation happened, but the gang was ready. They had hired a rogue warlock to stand beside them, a fairly powerful one at that. When the Specter came in, the men shot crossbows at him while the warlock launched lightning. The Specter merely reached out his God Touched arm and seemed to catch the lightning and threw it at the roof, catching the building on fire. Then the Specter strode to the warlock, who along with every other man in the room stood stunned. He then grabbed the warlock, who immediately burst into flame and fell to the floor screaming.

The Specter still bears the scars left by the rope around his neck, the bolts in his body and many more. It is thought the man to unable to be killed, even by magic cast by witches and warlocks. And so his reputation puts fear in any who here the words Specter.

We are everywhere and everyone. We are nowhere and nobody. Underneath the mask is nothing and everything.
